| Re: More mental 3D pavement art.. @ Tacky - there are actually real pavement artists out there capable of doing this. It's just the 3rd one down is well fooking blatently not.
The Santa one etc all look real. You can tell by looking really closely at the pavement on the santa one. They all look quite obviously 'painted'. The 3rd does not as it's probably a mock up
But there are actually guys out there capable of doing this.
It's easier to understand it's a painting and real if you see the pictures from the wrong angles |

If you look on the right hand side of the first ice pic there are railings there but not on the left, and they are on the left hand side of the 2nd ice pic but not the right. They are the type of railings that can be moved, so they have obviously been moved suring the process of making the picture (you can tell some time has passed as the white detail making the shading hasn't been added yet).

It's easier to understand it's a painting and real if you see the pictures from the wrong angles | ..as mentioned before, Julian Beever. He was the first guy to be noticed for it.

| Re: More mental 3D pavement art.. I don't think that either of the "street" ones are photoshopped, just looks to me like it's later in the day/another day, and that the photographer is standing in another position in the second photo, hence the different angles (for instance, there's some sort of circular manhole type thing on the bottom left of the first one, and it's on the bottom right of the second one).

It's generally accepted by historians to date back to cave painting times with examples in Medieval Italy too. In living memory there were folk being noticed for this in a big way in the 80s. There's also been a HUGE internation street art festival / competition for over 30 years now. Beever's work was more notably in the mid 90s I thought. |
