Smile Best Drawing Materials

Need some help, im more a painter but my friend is an amazing drawer and for her birthday i want to buy her something she will love and i know she would love some good pencils which is what she is best at.

I know nothing at all about pencil drawing but can anyone suggest any good stores or brands which are best for pencil drawing?

Re: Best Drawing Materials

it may sound unthoughtful but vouchers for the art store/millers may be a better idea, that way she can get whatever she needs or treats herself to something she normally wouldnt

Re: Best Drawing Materials

I really love my Derwent coloured pencils (I've tried other fancier brands, but just didn't like them as much). I have their regular pencils and pastel pencils, but best of all are the Inktense pencils. They're nicer than watercolour pencils, and they're nice to blend, and they're also something that not everyone will have. I'm quite a "delicate" drawer though, so they suit me, but it would depend on her drawing style if they would be good for her. I think they're about 1.60 a pencil in the Art Store, but it works out cheaper if you buy the set. I have the mid-sized set, and I've never really felt a need for more colours, but obviously, you can buy them separately if you do.

Alternatively, I love SHARPIES. I can't think of a single reason why anyone wouldn't want a nice set of coloured Sharpies.

Re: Best Drawing Materials

Haha I'm not getting her a small pack of pencils but getting her a large set if possible (to go with the 2 giftbags of gifts I have for her)
But she was complaining her old ones are worn and can't get them anymore.
Just imagined pencils were like brushes, I know I am fussy about some types I use. =op

I saw a big set in the Art Store but just cause its big doesn't mean they are going to be any good (snigger)

Thanks Linz, ill check them out and lindy will pm you soon x
