the books you read are the windows to your soul

they say that everyone has a book in them. now, unless youve ate any novels lately, do u think that this is true? what would your book be about? would any1 want to read it? i think there is an element of ego-ism in writing. after all it is meant to be read isnt it?

i know this isnt the place for this thread, but itll get no views anywhere else.

    and im bored.

and i like the title. (im egotistical, i want it to be read)

    sorry.

    Books

I think everyone can does have at least one book in them. Just that most people aren't either capable or comfortable enough to express those ideas in the form of continuous prose.

Egotists and writers........I dunno. It's good to have an ego but an ego is useless without the confidence to follow through the convictions and ideas involved.

Researching is also very hard work so it takes a special breed of person to write.

I, personally, am more of a reader.

    Hmm True

I dunno, I always assumed Ego and confidence were very similar, of course you can have self confidence, but be too shy to make use of it, or have an Ego, but really its all a sham.
I think the most important thing of being a writer is to WANT to be heard, and to know enough about human nature to know what other people want to hear

Although im not a writer, so im probably talking complete cack

Its good to have confidence in yourself and your abilities, the world is a tough and heartless place, you can't sit about waiting for someone else to make you feel good....its true what they say:

"If you don't love yourself, then how do you expect anyone else to?"

    Anyway, onto writing.
I have tendency to write short poems when I'm feeling all deep and thoughtful. I also write short, very surreal, stories to keep my friends amused or to cheer them up when they're low and I can't see them in person.

I don't really think ego comes into being a writer. I don't like putting a comment and not explaining it but I really don't know how to word this so I'll stop.
...I got myself in a mess again, I need the smell of your sweat on my skin...

I tend not to write all that much anymore, apart from on here.

I used to write lots, just private thoughts and musings, but began to scare myself with how upsetting I had become.

So now I just draw, I don't think I draw purely for other to look at my work, it's more for myself really, I draw things from in my head, or that interest me, and if others then want to look, offer criticism or advice, then thats cool, but I don't seek it.

I wish I could write...but it's something I've just never had a talent for!! I'm not really that bothered about my inability to write books but I'm quite upset about my inability to write songs......how I yearn to be able to express myself in this way. Music is my life but I get very frustrsted playing and performing other people's material.......and for this reason it has been almost a year since I've performed in public.......gets me down! Hopefully I'll pick myself up and dust myself down and do something about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hmmm a deep and meaning full thread......
Anyone who has the confidence to write and let others read and criticise (spelling?) it, is in my opinion very brave. Writing, your subject and your style is a very personal matter. I would love to write but don't have the confidence.
But as a very wise man once told me (Edwin Morgan) once you have committed those words to paper they are no longer your own, they are for the public to interpret and take their own meaning from. Which is a scary bloody prospect if ever there was one.
Everyone has the capacity to write, but those people who actually do it are amazingly brave.
