    Favourite Album Cover

What's yours? Post a pic of it please?

A strangely straight forward and down the line thread for me.

Christ, I'll need to think about that one. Here's Day of the Jakey, in the meantime:

    Re: Favourite Album Cover

This could be a very long thread. I think it's been done before, actually.

    Here's some starters:

    Burning Airlines - Identikit

    Burning Airlines - Mission Control

    Bluetip - Join Us

    Jimmy Eat World - Clarity

Mostly, these are covers which really don't have the same effect in a photo as they do physically - they all exploit the three-dimensional nature of the CD case, treating it a whole object rather than a flat surface. The covers include cuts, they fold in unusual ways, they have continuation from one face to another, and so on.
The interval between birth and death is fractal. Any given moment is infinitely deep and rich, and therefore one lifetime is quite enough for me.

Actually, I'd say it belongs in Art/Design.

    Re: Favourite Album Cover

It's impossible for me not to post Maiden in threads likes this:

Somewhere In Time (you really need to see the whole sleeve to fully appreciate this one, it's stuffed with in-jokes and references in the art. Makes a good case for the brilliance of gatefold vinyl)

Powerslave (particularly when you consider the stage sets that were an accompaniment to the artwork)

Fear Of The Dark (it scared the shit out of Bell when Lovey wore his FOTD t-shirt to Gym in Primary School, thus has enormous mark-out value)

And most recently, I fucking love the artwork for 'Remission' and 'Leviathan' by Mastodon. They're just beautiful.

    Remission

    Leviathan

Suffocation and others have some awesome artwork, but that's quite enough for now.

I believe it was in GC last time it was done, but that hardly matters, I suppose.

Id agree if it was a discussion on artistic style rather than simply 'post album covers you like'.
