| Webhosting I am in need of some webhosting for the first time. I started a year long project at uni basically creating a website and making its content local bands, news and reviews etc
I guess i am going to need something with a decent amount of space to hold bands mp3's and info so anyone got any good suggestions?
And also ways of getting my site to actually get some traffic and also how to get adverts on the site so i can make atleast some money from it (the money dosen't bother me but the uni states i need to make some kind of profit).
Cheers

| Re: Webhosting If i do evrything i said i would do in the business plan then i pass they asked for a way the site could make money and i said advertising, think they want it implemented but dont think it matters if it gains profit.

| Re: Webhosting Most hosting providers offer an affiliate scheme which would probably be the easiest way to go [since it's already tied in to your account], but don't expect to make anything from it. |

| Re: Webhosting I'd have thought a better business model would be to charge bands to be 'showcased' on the site. You'd then just need to create a price plan - no technical ability required. |

| Re: Webhosting Don't think any bands would pay me, this is my first site so it's not going to look fantastic, although i think its looking ok so far. Then theres myspace which is free.

| Re: Webhosting Both me and metalcherry have our websites hosted by Evohosting and I would say go with them, the support is first class despite the fact its pretty cheap.

| Re: Webhosting the image on that page looks a bit odd on my laptop with its 800px high screen, cos you can't see the whole thing at once (and particularly, you can't read all the text without scrolling down...)

[/constructive feedback] | I can't see the whole thing on a 1600 x 1200 res. Holy huuge image batflange. (Well I have to scroll down to see the very, very bottom of the geetar but still...)

| Re: Webhosting photoshop would be the best way, you could rely on browsers to scale the image but it'd be less efficient, and likely not look as good (well unless you did exactly 50%, but then it'd be a bit narrow).

| Re: Webhosting I am having some trouble with this background. What resolution should i set the image to so that the background takes up a full page and i don't have so scroll up or down to see the site. My res is 1280x1024. When i se the image to that i still hav to scroll down to the bottom to see the guitars in the image.
Also how do i set the page size in dream weaver cause the page size is huge and when i add a background it just tiles the image.
