I feel you're pain! The back bottom left one has cut into my cheek and formed a lump of skin. I had this on the other side aswell - its like all 4 of them take it in turns to do this!

And im back in the chair tomorrow, and then the next tuesday to check all is well.

I swear, at some point i'll be tempted to ask for them all removed and just have my food blended to drink via a straw, buggering teeth! Ive to floss and use corsodyl for the next 2 weeks, twice a day - so i dont get gum disease. Yeh, i really want to be told that.

I had one out with a surgical extraction (rather than just pulling* they have to cut a flap of gum away and drill it out) and was back at work that afternoon. Juat have to remember to take your cocodomol for the first couple of days; after that it's fine.

Being in overnight would normally only be a consideration if it's done under General Anaesthetic, which they only really do for kids these days (ie for multiple surgical extractions, kids obviously don't have wisdom teeth!).

After being very dismissive about wisdom tooth pain when people I knew had it, I am a reformed man.

On wednesday, by bottom left wisdon tooth started to get a wee bit red and inflamed.
This happens on occasion, but often goes away quickly.
Not this time.

Last night it reached a climax. It was so swollen and infected I could taste pus, and couldn't complete my bite. Couldn't eat.
Rinsing with salt water etc. Couldn't sleep for hours.

Woke up this morning...and I think I must have bitten down on it hard in the night as it seems to have burst

Still a wee bit sore, and a we bit red, but it's gone right down so I feel a bit more human.
Will need to go to the dentist though and get it seen to.

Last week my wisdom tooth was breaking through, but didnt push through far enough so I had nice lovely bit of gum just sitting on top of it, being grinded on by my top wisdom tooth.

I was up every morning at 3am in constant pain.

Told it was infected and got antibiotics and still no relief over the weekend.

Went back on the Monday and they cut my gum off! Yey!

So I had another few nights of no sleep.

Now I have a heavy cold/flu/viral infection because I have been so fucking run down and this has been about a week of it.

Overall, I fucking hate wisdom teeth. Actual worse pain ever.

Though I have lost weight since I haven't been able to properly eat in about a week. Ever cloud has a silver lining

i too am becoming wise.

i handed in my dissertation on the friday, my wisdom teeth started poking through on the saturday.

there's something in that, i tell ya.

One of mine flared up last weekend, it's settled down now though - obviously I'm not ready to become wise yet.

I've got all four of mine sneaking in at various times. So far it's actually been alright - hurts when they move of course, but no infections and no serious flare ups lasting more than a day or two. I usually find when it hurts I give it a good flossing, which hurts like crazy at the time, but tends to get the tooth to calm down again faster.

both my bottom wisdom teeth have been driving me mad for a couple of months on and off. i keep getting a sore throat on whatever side is inflammed and i keep chewing my cheeks plus, coz i have big teeth and a wee mouth, i dont think they are ever going to come right out. my mum says the dentist can file any wee sharp bits off so im going to ask when im there on tuesday. my dad came up with the genius idea of rinsing with Listerine. my god that stuff burns... takes the pain away for a while though.

Like you said though Fenn, I get a sore throat too when it happens, and thta has remained.

Ha ha ha. I googled wisdom teeth pain and this thread was on the second page of results.

I'll update - getting them out hurts a hell of a lot more than having them come in. And I now have a huge hole in my mouth. Yuk.
