mumps - The review

I've been told i'm exagerating my mumps and that its 'not that bad' by someone who's never had it before... Is there anyone out there that can back me up on how f*cking painful it is?

I don't remember - I was only 4 when I had it and I slept for most of it, but it's not a pleasant (or pretty) thing to have. How's yer lumps?

I had a lop sided lump, which has develpoed into two fat lumps.. its changed my faceshape so I look like i've gota brad pitt jawline

i remember my wee sister got hers 2 days before i was due to get my MMR for college

and she wasnt allowed outside incase she started an epidemic...

Janet honey, mumps is uncomfortable when your older (>12yrs of age), but as you're female, it's not such a big issue. Mumps virus interacts with the basement membrane of the testes and renders males sterile (laymen terms). Give yourself a week or two and you'll be fine honey. It's not that helpful, I know but it's the best I can offer

Well it does if it interacts with the basement membrane of the testes..always. If it doesn't then no. But, that's not what I said...and I'm giving information in basic terms here.

Is that in males of all ages or just those who've been through puberty? Mumps affecting my boys is one of my worst fears

Males of ALL ages. The virus has a predeliction for the cell type...end of. It is a serious issue with male sterility...very serious. They get the MMR vaccination around 18 months tho', so should be OK.

FUCK, scary edit - my brother was the only member of my siblings who wasn't vaccinated for anything (n=4) and he got mumps (and measles incidentally)...he is sterile and he's got all sorts of other complications from the viral infection....always get your kids vaccinated!!!!!!

I'm glad I dont have any balls then

I don't really drink tbh anymore... But i've well and truly gave up on trying to avoid taking painkillers.. I used to be a right wee trooper, but this is horrible, it feels liek i've got a tennis ball behind one ear and a golf ball behind the other! Lol.
