| Re: Pcos I have PCOS, or at least I think so - when I was referred for ultrasound (it took 8 months for appt to come through "administrative error" or some such nonsense), it was 3 months before gynaecologist rang about appt and I was pregnant, so no formal diagnosis of cysts, but have symptoms.
I'm overweight still, was size 22 at my biggest, massively painful periods, hair on head is thinning and starting to get more body hair, particularly worried about sporting a tom selleck moustache in the near future!
My doctors have never been anything less than completely uninterested, and put me on pill, which helps a lot. Obviously fertility is an issue too, but losing weight is one of the big things you can do to ease symptoms.
Is one of those crappy catch-22 situations; PCOS causes you to gain weight, but the more you weigh the worse it gets.
The only things you can try to do is lose weight if you're overweight (easier said than done) and pester GP to fuck to make sure you get treatment.

| Re: Pcos It does sound like it. Also the fact that the Pill makes you gain weight while you wanna keep it off is annoyin.

| Re: Pcos Girshkin - funny you should mention that you waited ages on your ultrasound, I just got my letter today and the appointments this month. It sucks you had to wait so long tho!

| Re: Pcos well good luck with the scan, tho make sure you drink plenty of water - i had been sick and chucked most of what I'd drank up before scan and ended up having an internal ultrasound, which in fairness, wasn't too bad, but best to be avoided I think!

But, he said he couldn't see my ovaries too well and I ended up with an internal. Its not horrific but I'd rather not have had it.

| Re: Pcos hiyah ladies
I have PCOS and was plagued with worries about why i didn;t have my period, why i carry so much extra weight on my tummy, depression, lovely hair in places it shouldn't be.....all this starting when i was 17. I was only officially given my label about 4 years ago (i'm 31 now)
I'm on Dianette, which has lost its license for being a contraceptive, because it causes depression ( more depression?!?) and i have had the scans both internal and external, and been told that getting pregnant could help...but as one of mentioned before, getting pregnant in itself is a mission.
So now i face my mates all getting pregnant, which i don;t really want just now, but having the option to be would be nice as well...god do any of you know what i mean?
i'm probably rambling now...lol |
