I'm on Dianette, which has lost its license for being a contraceptive, because it causes depression ( more depression?!?) and i have had the scans both internal and external, and been told that getting pregnant could help...but as one of mentioned before, getting pregnant in itself is a mission.
So now i face my mates all getting pregnant, which i don;t really want just now, but having the option to be would be nice as well...god do any of you know what i mean?
i'm probably rambling now...lol | I know what you mean about havin the option to get pregnant... I don't want just now either, but it would be good to have that option. Strangely enough I'd say my symptoms started appearin when I was 17 and I'll be 22 on Saturday.
Things are progressin quickly for me, I've got an appointment for the gynaecologist already... anyone else got their appointments this quick???

| Re: Pcos I've yet to see the gynae - and i was referred in 2004! should've chased it up after pregnancy i suppose, but on pill and it's doing the trick for now.
getting pregnant another catch 22, like losing weight - will help pcos, but harder to achieve because of pcos.

| Re: Pcos Thought I'd help with the lack of information...
PCOS is still not fully understood and is highly complex in symptoms, investigations and treatment. Basically your hormoes get mucked up with menstruation halted (gives you the "cysts" on ultrasound) so few/no periods. These halted periods produce too much androgens(male hormones) giving you male hair patterns(including baldness!) and acne. This is complicated with teh fact your normal oestrogens are converted to androgens in fat. So excess fat worsens the condition and links in with the insuling problems.
So treatment is against the hormone - pill, dianette, few other things and weight loss.
Fertility is another matter,,I dont think anyone asked about that just now.
Hope this littel helps,, ask me if you want to know more

| Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) [merged] Has anyone ever had this?
I was at the doctors today and because of recent events of long "absences" and problems during my time of month she believes this is the problem.
I dont know much about it but has anyone else got this or know of good places to check it up? |

| Re: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome eek. I don't think you want to hear anything I know about it
A few of the females on my mums side of the family developed cancer of the uterus and PCOS was thought to be the cause in each case, they showed symptoms like not being able to deal with insulin in the body properly and their hormones weren't right(i don't know what was actually wrong with them) aswell as the irregular/heavy periods.
I hope things go well at the doctors though and it turns out to be something simpler. scares me. |

This thread might help if it's the same thing. I haven't read it, but just going by the reference to PCOS in the last post I'm guessing it's the same thing. Good luck x

She never gave me much info about it she just demanded i get 6 blood tests done to check different aspects of it - diabetes, thrombosis etc as well as smear and a "girly check" of all things .....well girly
thanks for the help, i will check out the thread and see if it can shead light about anything else |

| Re: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) [merged] ok, medicines...
has anyone been put on any meds for this?
I have been put on something called Utovlan - a hormone pill my doc says....but im lost in how to take it
Because of some of the problems i have had since being told i have PCOS includes neverending cycle (utter bitch), pains, and a few other problems, the doc said its best to take this and is referring me to a gyno (one day when they finally get back to me)
I was told to take this on day 5 of the cycle and continue it to day 29 unless it stops....but because of its unusual patterns....im getting jumbled up with this.
Is anyone else on this stuff who can help me |
