| antibiotics plus paracetmol - do they mix?
I feel rotten.
I got nebulised last night and given steroids, had to go back the docs this morning to get antibios because aside from my asthma playing up, ive got a chest infection.
My tenperatures sky high and making me feel iller i think (My heads banging already from coughing all the time), and I dont know if I can take paracetamol alongside steroids and anti-biotics?

nae clue. phone NHS 24 and check to be on the safe side. with antibios i think it'd be ok, but just check to be safe

I really wouldn't know, but maybe if you called NHS 24 they would be able to tell you. And the wee sheet that comes in medication usually says what you can't take it with.

Probably fine. Paracetomol is such a commonplace drug that it should say on the documentation that comes with the antibiotics if there's anything to worry about. Phone nhs24 to be safe though.

BTW, you need the paracetamol to get your temp down ( 2 every 4-6hrs, max 8 in 24hrs) it's safe with the combo you are on. Just don't add lemsip etc.

I don't think it is of any harm. Paracetmol is pretty good in combination.
Again, if you are worried, get someone to contact NHS 24, they have pharmacists on call. | |

We never combine the use of steroids and NSAID's as they carry a higher risk of GI problems such as bleeds and ulcers...not sure about Paracetamol as it is a NSAID but does act differently to most of them | |

It's similair to a COX -2 rather than a NSAID. I know of no interaction.
How else would one reduce a pyrexia?

I can say if it's ok for sure, but i can't see it being a problem. I always take painkillers when i'm on antibiotics.
Like everyon has said - phone NHS 24.
