Inside your knee you have 2 main meniscal semi-circular cartilages on the surface of your Tibia. These are the main shockabsorbers etc for your knee and provide a smooth surface for the stifle joint to rotate upon. A tear in the cartilage means that it has come off from its attachment to your tibia and is waving around loose so they will prob do arthroscopy and grab/remove the free bit of cartilage and stick you on mad pain kiler/ant-inflammatories with physio to get full use of your leg back. You will also prob get arthritis in that joint when you are older.

You should probably try stocking up ion really fatty starchy foods once you're out of the hospital Brian. A mate of mine went in to get a ligament in his knee fixed, four months later he was two stone lighter from yonks of missing the gym and footy (the sight of really loose saggy skin on a guy with a 30" waist was pretty shocking to see).
I rekon if you loose weight after the surgery, then you might dissappear completely. And I don't mean 'get invisible super powers'.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin might help your joints a bit as well. takes a good 6 week course to begin to see results though. You need someone to feed you up! I'll come nurse you (I need someone to look after/feed) | |
