Words can't do it justice - just have a read, and no this isn't fake - it's an over the counter diet pill you can get here in the US.

If you're seriously interested in this, you can get it with a prescription under the name Orlistat in the UK (meanwhile in the US you can buy a 90-capsule pack for about £30ish)

I heard about pills that stopped you absorbing fat a wee while ago and immediately thought that diarrhoea must be the 'catch'. Complete incontinence seems a pretty heavy price to pay for weight loss - in the immortal words of Brian from Family Guy 'put down the fork'!

Its actually not as bad as that link makes out.

Well it can be, if you stuff your face with chocolate and fish suppers whilst taking them. And also in the first week of taking them as your body adjusts.

But if you control your diet properly and reduce your intake of fat, the side effects arent actually that noticeable. And you dont "shit your pants".

(for the record Im taking the prescribed version of this)

As I see it, the pills stop you absorbing fat. It's the unabsorbed fat that makes your stools loose, therefore if you ingest fat your stools will be loose. If you adjust your diet to cut down (out?) fat then your stools will go back to normal, but then you don't need the pills!

From what I remember the way my mate explained it was that fair enough if you dont eat the fat you dont need the pills but they stop all the fat being absorbed so even if you eat those those healthy meals that have a bit of fat in them it doesnt get digested. Its an extreme diet effectively that alot of people would be hard pushed to do normally without a hell of alot of help.

I know I cant stick to diets and if I was ever big enough that I had to go on a diet that meant my doctor prescribing me these pills I know I'd be more scared of shitting myself if I pigged out than of not losing weight. Little bit of added incentive

That’s the answer. Set the scientific world to work figuring out a way to collect and turn these “oily stools” to biodiesel. America could become self-sufficient for fuel, remove the childhood obesity problem in one fell swoop, and stop bickering with Middle-eastern states.

Aye, they sell the 'stop absorbing carbs' ones in Woodlands Herbs. The 'fats' ones are a relatively recent development (over the counter, anyway) and are advertised in the window of Holland and Barret (I think).
All it is is messing up your digestive system so you don't absorb nutrients. How much research has gone into these? How do we know that in 20 years time we won't have a load of malabsorbing ex-fatties who are dying of malnutrition because they've fucked up their digestive system?
People with gall bladder disease, pancreatic disease, coeliac disease etc are admitted to hospital every day for malnutirition - and one of their main symptoms will always be fatty stools. This is a sign of disease and a bad thing™ - yet people are paying money to experience the exact same symptom...
