Re: Styes

A stye is usually when an oil gland, or a follicle, becomes clogged with dirt or oil. If you go your doctor they may prescribe antibiotic eyedrops or ointment, but even when recurrent they are not infectious and usually go away by themselves within 2 weeks.

All I care about is the 'not infectious' part, thank you very kindly so i can go out tonight with my plague-ridden eye with not an ounce of guilt.

No worries, my mate had one a while back and the only thing I remember her saying was that she was advised a high standard of hygiene is necessary with no sharing of towels or facecloths... just incase.

Although, I'd maybe avoid putting make-up near your eye, it might irritate it.

Re: Styes

rub silver on it
and eat garlic
and take better care of yourself - my doc says a stye is the first visable sign that your body is feeling run-down and neglected.

Re: Styes

i had one just starting the other day but salt water and optex eye drops done the trick - its well away now

dunno about the make up thing - I've not really worn a lot of make up since it happened. At most (eye make up wise) just mascara, and it was ok.
