| repetetetetetitive strain looking for links, mostly!
am doing a shitload of computer-based typing/mousework at the moment, at work and then at home, and recently me finger tendons (or whatever you call 'em) are really starting to ache, and tingle a wee bit.
absolutely cannot afford to not be able to type at the moment - way too much work to do - so would prefer to head off any problem before it gets too bad!
apart from taking regular breaks, switching mouse hands etc is there anything else i should be doing? like, i dunno, warm-up excercises?
anyone got any ideas? "stop posting on forum", i know, i know, am typing with one finger.

| Re: repetetetetetitive strain Previous thread - http://www.altnation.com/forums/well...-have-rsi.html
If it's starting to hurt and you're in a crunch-time, you're already past the point of prevention. Ice-packs, pain-relievers, and wrist-braces are probably the way to go. http://www.webmd.com/pain-management...Topic-Overview
and http://www.webmd.com/pain-management...ome-Prevention
While I doubt you've done enough damage to yourself to be considered CTS, the symptoms of CTS/RSI are fairly similar and can be prevented or aleviated in the same manner.
(for other random reading, I recommend Neal Stephenson's "The Cryptonomicon" which features a programmer crazy enough to cripple himself with RSI so badly he's reduced to tapping instructions into the keyboard with a pencil ) |
