| Tooth Extraction I'm having a cracked molar yanked tomorrow and due to the shitness of my co-worker, I have to go into work after. I've been assured by my lovely dentist that his work will be painful and gory of the highest order.
Any suggestions that'll make my working day a little easier to bear afterwards would be fab.

| Re: Tooth Extraction Jsut follow the wee sheet they give you - generally you rinse your mouth with hot salty washes - but you wait until 24hours after the extraction.
Keep burshing your teeth and keep the gum area clean. There may be white puss/smelly stuff forming on the inside of your gum - ignore it. I poked at it cause i thought i was being good and cleaning it, when the gunky stuff was really keeping it clean. And then my dentist had to pack it with cloves.
This.hurt.like.a.mother.fucker.
SO just keep it clean, keep drinking water, stay away from crappy or crunchy/hard foods - soups and yoghurts all the way!
Ive had 2 teeth out this year, both molars; one was already wobbly so came out within a minute. Was quite cool hearing the crack actually, and it came out clean in one go.
The other tooth was a hell of a lot of yanking and pulling, it had rotted at the top. And i poked at it *see above*.
Hope that helps! ANd i hate syringes, so that was the worst part. You do bleed loads, but they shove these thick, wee cotton pads in your mouth and you clamp down on them to slow/stop the bleeding.
If your gum DOES bleed post-extraction, then just get some good, thick tissues, roll them up and bite donw =- gently mind!
ANd avoid spitting, its not good for your healing gum.

I took a picture of the tooth post-extraction cause yes, they are big buggers but you wont feel a thing misses!

| Re: Tooth Extraction bottom's a skoosk. I think so personally anyway, this is from someone that had 8 out for braces when I was younger.
Top teeth I hate though, especially at the front cos it feels like the dentists going through the roof of your mouth with all the pressure to pull it out, you don't tend to get that with bottom teeth though.Even the injections are way easier on the bottom as they're not going into the ridges on the roof of your mouth which crunches and is a bit mank
...you might want to stock up on some cram of chicken soup, tea and straws and some painkillers.
seriously though, bottom teeth (bar wisdom teeth which are cunts) I think aren't that bad |

| Re: Tooth Extraction I had a wisdom tooth extracted a few months ago and I was a bit weary because I had, at that point, never had a tooth out in my entire life.
When it came down to it, I actually didn't realise it was out it happened so fast. As for afterwards, little pain, I didn't even take Ibuprofen (although this is what you should take if you do get pain) Just be careful not to eat near it, and keep the mouth very clean with gentle salt mouth washes. Be careful with your toothbrush as well, it is easy to forget that there is no tooth and go sauntering over the area with the bristles!
