Still if it tasted the biz...
What effect would an artificially grown chicken breast have on any of you veggies though, does it still have enough negative moral implications to prevent you from eating it if it were perfectly good for you?

On the other hand, I don't agree that meat is perfectly good for you and I think it's consumption causes lots of health problems so wouldn't eat it on that basis. |

I can't say I agree with meat causing all sorts of health problems, it's a rather wild claim to be fair. Vegetarians die every day from a plethora of ailments other than natural causes I'm quite sure...

| Re: Grudgingly Going Veggie At least these days you've got thousands of veggie websites out there, covered in recipes and tips. Apparently it's harder than it looks, since loads of products these days contain meat bye-products and such. I'm sure it's a less severe change to lifestyle now than 10 years ago, with much of the thinking taken out of it.

This is the new ethic.
Animals' lives are their own and must be given respect.
Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that maintains the oppressive hierarchy of mankind over the animals.
It's time to set them free.
Their lives reduced to biomachines in the factory, farm and laboratory.
Dairy, eggs and meat, fur, suede, wool, leather are the end products of torture, confinement and murder.
I abjure their use out of reverence for all innocent life.
Wildlifes' right to live in peace in their natural environment without this civilization's interference can no longer be denied.
Must no longer be denied.
To make a civilization worthy of the word civilized the cruelty must end, starting within our own lives.
Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that maintains the oppressive hierarchy of mankind over the animals.
It's time to set them free.
Veganism is the essence of compassion and peaceful living.
The animals are not ours to abuse or dominate.
I abjure their use out of reverence...
I abjure their use out of reverence...
I abjure their use out of reverence for all innocent life.
| Fucking love meat, no way I could quit it without a really good reason.

| Re: Grudgingly Going Veggie I've been veggie for most of my life (about 18 years) and my biggest piece of advice would be make sure you read the labels, and learn the words for animal by-products if you're going to be super strict. Good luck!
Oh and in answer to djtoasts post regarding feeding children, neither of my boys eat a vegetarian diet (quite the opposite) as I was allowed to make the choice myself and I want the boys to decide themselves what they would prefer when they are old enough. As with religion, I feel its my job as a parent to inform but not decide for them what they should do. |

| Re: Grudgingly Going Veggie Going veggie isn't that difficult and is a much cheaper way to eat in many ways. The biggest problem I've found is eating out, where the veggie options are bland, stuffed full of sugar or cheese and normally involve some sort of pasta.
