| Recommend me a diet Decided I'm fed up with being as humungous as I am and want to go on a diet, so looking for a bit of advice from those who have used a particularly good diet plan they want to recommend.
The last time I tried to lose weight successfully was just before I got pregnant and it wasn't really to do with what I was eating, but going to the gym for an hour after work each night. With a two year old, uni and just about to start a 2nd part time job, that's not really an option!
Atkins etc, doesn't really appeal because it has to be meals I can cook for the wee man as well (I'm too busy/lazy to cook twice), plus I like to have a drink when I'm out so don't want to have to cut out booze completely!
Because of this I was thinking Weight Watchers/Slimming World/Rosemary Conley or something similar was a better idea, so is there much of a difference between the diets clubs like these offer or is it all much of a muchness?
I've been fed up with my weight for a long time, but I put on another stone around the time my Dad died (week in hospice= 3 takeaway meals a day, not good!) and want to get down to a better weight!
So recommendations please!

| Re: Recommend me a diet I guess I'm hoping that as I'll have to diet for a pretty substantial length of time it will evolve into a healthier lifestyle (if that makes sense!).
But that's a fair point.

| Re: Recommend me a diet Fruit for breakfast and lunch, reasonable dinner, cut down on beer, no real snacking and cycling to work every day is working for me.
Although I've fallen off the wagon a bit in the last few days.

| Re: Recommend me a diet I know someone who did the two meals of fruit diet for a while, but she got very fed up. Think that was to do with her having the same fruit all the time though.

| Re: Recommend me a diet Use small changes to get your calorie intake down. If you normally drink wine or beer when you're out, switch to spirits with a diet mixer, and try and keep it to once a week. Brown bread/rice/pasta are healthier so use them. Eat fruit for snacks. I'm sounding terribly cliche here but it all works.
I like cereal for breakfast, something with dried fruit and some nuts but no added sugar. Then if you had fruit for lunch you might not get so bored. |

| Re: Recommend me a diet Gaining so much weight that you need to lose a large amount is idiotic, dieting will surely only improve matters!
I already drink vodka & diet coke when I'm out, it's the mid-week stuffing my face while watching telly that's the problem!

| Re: Recommend me a diet If you can't fit in the exercise and really want to do a diet, the slimming world one worked for me a couple of years ago. Depends on how much you like either pasta & grains or meat though. |

I thought it was shit but its actually ace. You can see exactly how much you have eaten that day and they give you goals and exercises and message boards etc. Tis pretty cool, only down side is that it is American but you can enter food you eat and their nutritional values and shit. I waffle |

| Re: Recommend me a diet Never skip breakfast.
Don't eat late at night, preferably nothing after about 8pm.
Try to eat most of your carbs in the morning.
Eat small meals more often rather than 2 or 3 big meals.
Cut down on fat. Veg and lean meat (chicken and fish, if fish is a meat) are good, cheese and pies are bad.
Do a bit of exercise.
Don't listen to Gillian cunting McKeith.
