I was wondering about it, but worried about regular use since it seems pretty strong. Is it prescription? | It's not prescription, although dentists do prescribe it sometimes (that's how I started using it). It's quite good, but leaves your mouth feeling furry and you can taste it for hours (I only use it at night). It's not as mouth numbingly horrible as Listerine.
I've got an electric toothbrush that my mum gave me that apparently flosses and brushes, but I don't use it nearly often enough - it seems quite a lot of hassle. On the good side, it buzzes to tell you when you've been brushing for long enough and it hold change for weeks. |

| Re: Dental Health Yeah, you can buy Corsodyl over the counter and it is just for people with gingivitis and the like.
Any time I gave it out on prescription the direction were to use for 1 - 2 weeks, but you should ask the pharmacist if it is worth your while. But, yeah, I think it is pretty strong as it is for diseased gums |

| Re: Dental Health It's not prescription, I got it in Boots. I'm using it on a 1 month course cos my gums kept bleeding after I brushed my teeth. It tastes RANK (it lied when it said it was mint flavoured) but I've been using it a couple of weeks and my gums and teeth feel alot healthier and don't bleed anymore. I'll switch back to Dentyl after the month is up and only use it occassionally. All the instructions are on the bottle. |

I try to do two minutes, but usually end up doing more which my dentist friends tell me is almost as bad as doing less Quote:

| Re: Dental Health I brush twice a day - sometimes three times on weekends (usually after lunch) and i always need to use an electric toothbrush because i dont feel a normal manual one is any good
I use colgate total clean mouthwash as well as dentyl mouthwash too before i use deep clean mouthwash morning and night and when i feel i need it
I also floss at nighttime and lunch time when im home....
I used to use oraldine (sp?) which is prolly the best mouthwash to use but trying to find it these days can be tricky
and i get a scale and polish every 6 months
so all in all sparkley toofs! |

| Re: Dental Health Here, i mind hearing YEARS back about some stuff they'd developed to coat teeth with that lasted about a year and sealed your teeth completely from bacteria that could rot them, and they were planning on making it a standard thing for schoolkids, then never heard about it again.
It was past the trial stages even then i believe. |

I haven't been to the dentist in years, but my mum was recommended to use an electric toothbrush by her dentist. Your teeth do feel cleaner after using it, but I dunno...it could just be a big con. |

I use any toothpaste and brush, then floss - preferably dental tape - then corsodyl daily. I've been using the proper strong stuff for years, prescribed it for mouth ulcers and was advised to use once a day for 2 weeks by my dentist to help clear up my gums, and figured the daily one would be even better.
Anyways - scale and polish tomorrow, she'll let me know if its made a difference, no doubt!

| Re: Dental Health i usually use Mcleans whitening toothpaste. i dont use mouthwash and i dont floss coz it gies me the heavy boak. but i was just at my dentist the other day and he said i should just go to the hygenist every 3 months instead of every 6 and that should keep my gums in tip top shape.

| Re: Dental Health Oh yeh, its fun to read the label for corsodyl - its near enough pure alkali, so the whole DO NOT SWALLOW thing is scary. Would it actually neutralise your stomach acid? Would you foam at the mouth and die?

| Re: Dental Health I use Colgate Plax MINT flavour, wahey, and Colgate Whitening. I also have some other bullshit for whitening my teeth but it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone reccommend anything for whitening? I've neglected my teeth far too long.
