FUck this, seriously, someone want to just burst all the teeth in my mouth with a hammer? Saves the patronising bullshit from that bitch - gah!
OH - so much for the scale and polish, she just did a check up instead.
See if there was, erm, you know, i dunno, a BIT of communication there? You know? If they put a poster up saying 'we apologise for the increase in appointments you will all need, but i need to make up for the work your now retired dentist failed to carry out'.
I turn up - and she just does whatever the hell she wants! She does it well i must admit, but see her on her own, god sake what a bitch!

| Re: Dental Health what a cow! i like my dentist. hes really nice coz im generally terrified of dentists. he makes sure to sort out anything before i need jags and drills and stuff. ive had 4 or 5 fillings but all they have been for is prevention, just little dark spots that might get worse. id rather that when it takes 5 minutes to do that have jags in my face. ugh....

| Re: Dental Health I also hate syringes and thats why i started to cry, because the thought of having to get one freaks me out - she's given me enough injections, she should FUCKING KNOW THIS!!!! Every time she mentions it - but for some reason she just turned on the stone-cold bitch mode, and its not appeciated!

| Re: Dental Health :s is it an NHS dentist? i go to a private one now which offers needle free numbing stuff. private practices are much more sympathetic to peoples fears and stuff. i mean i told my dentist the other day that i didnt floss and i wasnt going to start coz it just gives me the heebies and instead of giving me into trouble for it he just suggested coming to the hygenist more often....

| Re: Dental Health I use sensodyne toothpaste cause my gums have receded along the molars as I brushed far too hard years ago.
I only need to use it when my teeth are really sore though.
Normally I can get away with colgate or the linkes.
Did buy a sonic toothbrush but it isn't really any much better than thorough manual brushing.
Use the 2 colour Dentyl mouthwash stuff.
I do have a few fillings despite all this.
Most of them are from when I was younger and didn't take care of them the way I should though.

| Re: Dental Health She just needs to stop being a bitch! WHy should i go private, when i pay National Insurance plus a fee every time i got there? It should be the same treatment, it just depends on the type of person that you get i suppose!
As i said, i cannot fault her for what she has done so far, but she is making me want to go to the dentist less and less, and making me feel more and more like a patronized child every time i sit down in that chair 'dont do this, dont do that, dont put your feet on the bit of the chair that isnt covered, dont push my hands away from your mouth'....ok, so that last one was legit cause she had that mad scrapey thing in her mouth but i just couldnt take it anymore.
Im wondering if - for her sake and mine - i should ask to see the other dentist there, and not JUST because he's fucking hot...

| Re: Dental Health BUT do you want a hot guy looking in your mouth and seeing it for all its glory?
TBH i dont think a private dentist is that much more expensive, plus its easier to get appointments and generally they are just nicer. but its up to you.

| Re: Dental Health See, the receptionist is lovely, the other dentist - is lovely AND a dish; and he spends his days seeing minging mouths, but i get to stare into his eyes....longingly...and it wouldnt be classes as weird not stalking! But my dentist? She is a BITCH! Plus she does her job really well.
I mean, if its for you then yeh, sorted for being private. Thing is, they are a private AND an NHS clinic, they were explaining about how the only reason they have such hi-tech stuff is because of the private patients they have, and halfed with the NHS money they get. Hmm - so its 'supposed' to be the best of both worlds.
She's just put me in a right mood!

| Re: Dental Health Marie, look for a new dentist. I had a horrible experience last week with my robotic unsympathetic cow of a dentist who told me I needed 3 fillings and a tooth out. I have a horrible fear of the dentist and she just makes it worse by being so horrible, so I changed to Partick Dental Care and they're AMAZING. The dentist was so nice, and after my check up with her she said 2 of the fillings my last dentist said I needed were actually because of staining on the teeth, and just needed cleaned. And the tooth they wanted to take out should be saveable with a filling, I'll find out for def. about that tomorrow when I get my x-rays back though. It was such a huge relief to have someone more sympathetic though, I'd definitely recommend looking for a new dentist if you're not happy with your current one. I'm so angry I put up with mine for so long!

| Re: Dental Health Is there like a website with the BDA list of qualified Dentists on it with like info on their history? Because that would be interesting to see.

| Re: Dental Health There is a list of dentists registered with the BDA and what services they offer, I looked for ones specialising in phobic and nervous patients as they tend to be more sympathetic, and also offer sedation should you so desire.
Try here: http://www.bda-findadentist.org.uk/
Hope that helps!

| Re: Dental Health I'm terrified of the dentist. I think the last time i went was when i was about 15 or something :s
Toothpaste wise i'll use whatever's in our bathroom, dont really have a favourite brand or anything. I floss occassionaly with dental tape because alot of my teeth overlap slightly and i get paranoid that i won't clean them properly with just brushing and ive got that cortysol(sp?) for my mouth ulcers but you lot just scared the shit out of me because when i brush my teeth my gums sometimes bleed so i reckon ill use it till that stops happening It does taste rank and it also warns you to avoid contact with your ears which i find absolutely hilarious! |

I was delighted to learn after I quit smoking that it only stains your teeth rather than damaging them. |

Not got one filling! | Likewise, but I tend to go to the dentist every two months & when I quit smoking I got my teeth whitened. Tempted to get them capped since one is a bit like a fang from me chipping it skateboarding years ago, but never got round to it. |
