Thankfully though, i'm in the lucky 30% and mine are practically non-existent. Good times! |

| Re: implanon really, it got played down as just something that might happen at the start for a month or 2 due to the thining of the womb lining and that it'd settle down even if that was the case.

I know that the bleeding you get on Microgynon is only withdrawl bleeding and not a real period, but is it's safe to run packs together? | I don't think it's advisable to do it constantly, but if you want to skip a 'period' for a month (ie going on holiday or something) you can run 2 packs together to skip it. I'm on Cileste which is a 3 week pill and it tells you in the leaflet you can do it. Shitter is that once you start taking it normally, your non-pill week shifts a week so if you're used to them at a certain time, you get confused.

| Re: implanon i have wanted one of these for a while. Because my blood pressure is so low it means a trip to the docs every 28 days for a new packet of pills and a blood pressure check. Pain in the butt.

Sarah xx | "Safe" period frequency is I think, 3 or 4 per year. As long as you have 3-4 per year then theres not as much risk from endometrial lining build up. 3-4 "sheds" a year is considered okay, as in not concerning to medical profession.
At least this is what I was told when I hadn't had a period in 8 months, and I wasn't on the pill. |

| Re: implanon I've just had one put in at the Sandyford. I can honestly say it didn't hurt at all, i could feel it sliding into place under my skin but that was more weird than sore.
(The only awkward part was when the doctor asked me to explain the hand shaped bruise on my arm and i had to admit it was a booze injury and that i have no idea how i got it. I reckon she now thinks i'm a battered wife )

| Re: implanon I really need to look into something else. I have a mirena and all hormonal contraception that I have tried to date has terrible side effects for me so I reckon it's time to get my tubes tied. Or pregnant again, I can't quite decide which sounds most unappealing. |

| Re: implanon My girlfriend is on it.
Seems to do it's purpose, though she swears that has gained weight whilst on it, despite trying to shift weight. Also periods are pretty heavy. She's going back to the injection after it.
