STOP TALKING ABOUT JUNK FOOD!

I'm on day 2 of this cabbage soup diet - it's veggie day today! I am fucking starving and nipped into Tesco to get some veg only to be taunted by cream cakes, crisps and bread.

Just a query for those in the know - I bought a couple of snack packs of nuts (brazil and cashew). Could I get away with claiming them as a vegetable?

Brazil's a country; cashew's a sneeze. Neither of these, crucially, are non-vegetable foodstuffs.

If I remember rightly cashew nuts are quite high in calories so I don't think they'll do your diet any favours. They are tasty though.

Pistachios are high in fat.

If it was in a "do they count towards my 5-a-day?" context then no, but if you're only allowed vegetables today (?) then I don't see why not. Sounds a pretty intense diet, just the word "cabbage" gives me the boak.

Did one of my exercise DVDs for the first time in ages, it knackered me FAR more than it should've. Calorie intake's 250 so far, but I'm still feeling full from the chips and cheese I scoffed last night.
This thread (as with the 50 book one) really is good motivation, I know it's shallow but you feel quite smug getting to boast about stuff on the internet.

I'm still trying to work out why its called cabbage soup. The amount of veg that goes into it means you put less cabbage in that most other vegetables. With a bit of pepper it actually tastes not to bad. I don't have pepper in my work though.

Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread.

Nuts aren't vegetables - they are very high in fat so I really don't think you should eat them on your veg day.

I really think Cabbage Soup Diet is a misnomer - there is very little cabbage involved in the entire diet, never mind just the soup.

Due to the appearance of this thread, I have been shamed into finally changing my eating habits from junk food/take aways to proper healthy stuff. I binned all my crap and stocked up on fruit and veg, I binned my tea and replaced it with the caffeine free stuff, I stopped drinking fizzy drinks and now drink only water whilst at work. I even have breakfast, lunch and dinner, something unheard of for me. Thing is I've been seriously bloated for about three days now, a problem I've never had before. Was just wondering if there was any reason this should be the case? I'm not hoping it's my body's way of telling me it prefers junk food, honest.

Have you been getting enough fibre? Tends to help, does for me anyway. Here's a list of such foods.

I think so. I eat only wholewheat pasta, lots of wholegrain/granary bread (perks of working in a deli) and tons of veg. In fact right now I'm munching my way through two slices of granary bread. How much is 'enough' though?

you can get quite bloated the week before your period. ie water retention. You can get bloated if you don't drink enough water. i also find a lot of bread and pasta bloats me. Too much bread or carbs in your diet isn't really the best tbh.
