| Re: Exercising If you wanna put on a bit of bulk, weights are you're best bet. You do need to eat a good bit though.
If you eat a few meals a day where you feel pretty much full, you'll be doing not too bad for a start. Also, within about half an hour of training, make sure you eat something high protein and low in carbohydrates. If you're gonna try to loose weight or aren't very active in the evening (no pun intended, I mean come on to fuck, we're all sittin online ), it's a good idea to eat a decent sized breakfast to get you're metabolism goin, and a decent enough sized lunch, then a smaller dinner. This way, you don't take in loadsa energy that's not gonna get burnt off as easily when you go to sleep later.
This would mean that having a good sized, mainly protein comprised dinner but doin a training would be good for puttin muscle on.
If you wanna get a bit of proper beef about you, using weights, here's what I did when I started out a bit back......before I stopped training properly lol.
Using dumb bell curls as a kinda example:
Find a weight that you find pretty hard to lift a set of eight of.....and lift 12. Then do another two or three sets, doing a one or two less rep in each if you have to.
I used the same rule for other exercises, like flies and shrugs and that.
Thing is though, if you're gonna probably be best off working on yer legs too. Squats (while holding a good weight) are good, as are leg raises. For doing squats, with less weight (since you don't get much in a package fae argos ), you need to make sure that you use as much as you're capable of (which is probably more than you get!), but do them slowly, and properly, no use cheating lol.
Press-ups, crunches, chin-ups, leg raises, leg scissors etc are a good way to start though if you haven't got weights. Thing is though, all you're doin is toning the muscles when you can do a high number of reps in eat set, it's doing the heavier shit that makes you bigger. Only setback is cost of food and equipment I suppose.

| Re: Exercising I was doing the home exercise shit, sit ups, push ups etc but it's chronic. So boring.
Bought a bike, and now I cycle as much as I can.
Aiming for an hour in the morning before I start work.
It's not about building legs, but improving your cardiovascular system.

I try to do some cardio twice a week (aka running or swimming or something along those lines) but my knees are shit, so swimming once a week is a more likely target. Along with that, I work out for 40 mins a night, three times a week, working mainly (manly) on my upper-body. I've noticed big changes
Also, tried skipping? |

| Re: Exercising Oooh, aye.
Doing a bit of cardio work is important if you're eating a lot too. TYpically around an hour a week is good.
An you need sleep if you're gonna grow any bigger.
The whole thing is like and equilibrium, with a balance of sleep, eating and training.

| Re: Exercising I normally just use the protein stuff that you get from Holland & Barratts And I'd make sure you get soy protein rather than whey protein.
If you want to get some stuff that is just silly, then go to Workout World on Union Street, or Body Planet (across the water on Bridge Street......well, I think it's called Bridge Street ).
Thing is if you get the big fuckoff buckets of the stuff, it has about (90 shakes worth I think, and it's about £50ish I think), be careful!! The stuff has about 600 calories **PER SHAKE** with milk, and about 700 calories per shake with milk if I remember correctly. To burn off that kinda energy, or make use of it, you gotta be doin some serious training.

| Re: Exercising Nah, fuck that. I'll just down some water.
Double the number of benchpresses I'm doing (60 in total now) and my arms are sore. Good but. |

| Re: Exercising And, aye, I thought Pete was just talking about the shake stuff.
Eh, aye, chicken, tuna other kinds of meat. It's just that chicken and tuna are less fatty (unless you plaster the stuff with mayo *slaps forehead*).
Stuff like pasta will help you put on weight, but isn't as good for building muscle as protein.
And, yeh, i suppose dancing is pretty damn good cardio.....you'll likely need a weeeee bit more though.
