| Ladies, I need yer help. Right.
Been on the pill for a few months now, and I just had my week off, my start day being a Tuesday.
Normally I take my pill between 12pm and 3pm during the day.
On Tuesday just there, I took the first pill of my new pack, except I was out most of the day and forgot to take it til like 12.30am.
Technically I was not more than 12 hours late taking it, but will this have an effect on me because I just had a week off?
HELP

| Re: Ladies, I need yer help. It may do, more so because its just after your break. Err on the side of caution and use condoms for 7 days. Apparently its your first week thats the most important to remember to take your pill at the correct time or within the correct time frame, once you are in to your 2nd and third weeks you can be a bit more relaxed.
but if you are concerned speak to your pharmacist or see if you can get a phone appointment with your doc or nurse. |

My doctor informed me that you are still safe if you take it within 12 hours of ur usual time.
However i agree with cupotea and use condoms for the first week for extra caution as u have had your week off with no pill |

| Re: Ladies, I need yer help. I'm not sure if it's necessary to stick to your previous time when you're just starting a new pack. Check the enclosed leaflet or if in doubt call the FPC and ask to speak to a nurse/advisor regarding your pill.
Maybe one of the Doctor ladies on here can help ye out eh..? |

| Re: Ladies, I need yer help. For my pill it says I'm covered if I miss one as long as I've had a full pack beforehand, but if yer truly cautious for peace of mind use condoms
I'm surprised I've not been pregnant yet, I'm so terrible at remembering to take the pill |

Its advised not to change your times or starting day as its a sequence you are following and your body is use to it. |

Even at that, if you're normally fairly careful with taking your pill, chances are you'll be protected. Might be worth giving NHS 24 a call though, their nurses will be able to tell you the score. 08454 24 24 24

If you have had an accident then go speak to your pharmacist, or if you have FPC nearby go see them. They can advise you on yur next course of action. |

| Re: Ladies, I need yer help. What type of pill was it (combined/mini?)
Some prevent ovulation, others thicken the mucous produced which forms a barrier to prevent sperm getting to an egg.
There is alot of good advice above. Any FPC or your GP or NHS Direct etc will give you advice.

Sara I honestly think you're fine, you were within your 12 hours, and you're usually sensible with your pill taking, and in addition you wouldn't ovulate for another fortnight anyway - really, don't worry.
