| Re: Excema yup, i get it. used to get it really bad. i have to use steroid creams and stuff as nothing else really works. i currently have Fucibet cream. ask your doc for diprobase, its an emollient moisturiser and its good. i also have Oilatum shower gel. its parrafin wax stuff to use after normal shower gel and it really helps with dryness. i hate getting it on my eyelids, its so unpleasant. i remember having it on my hands once and it was so bad i couldnt bend my fingers without it cracking and bleeding

| Re: Excema I have had excema all my life, the best thing I've ever been prescribed for it was Fucibret + EpaDerm, two weeks of using that and you would not notice that I had it... Unfortunately, i'm unable to get fucibret any more, don't know why....
Its a real bugger at this time of year as well. |

| Re: Excema Diprobase is good but only in extreme cases. I recommend against using it as your regular soap and use it when necessary ie the other stuff is too itchy
In my case my eczema is caused by the skin failing to retain moisture and oils to the required level. E45 does the trick most of the time but it is worth experimenting with more esoteric treatments. My parents got me this crazy goo that they bought from an aborigine tribesman when they were in Australia and that works an absolute treat.
When you wake up the morning after being plastered you may notice the eczema is flared. This is because your entire system is dehydrated and the skin does not have the moisture available that it needs to replenish itself. It is therefore important not to become even a wee bit dehydrated.
The best advice I can offer for caring for eczema is don't scratch. Ever. Not even a wee bit. It will only make it hurt even more. Don't make me get you a pair of scratch mittens!

| Re: Excema When I was a wee boy, i used to be mumified before going to bed. My mittens and socks were pasted with cream for my excema, and the rest of my body pasted directly. Then the mittens and socks were pinned to my pyjamas. By the morning I'd managed to get out of this, but have no recolection of doing it.
Doctors told me i'd grow out of my excema and asthma, but 22 years down the line I'm still using cream, inhalors and antihistamines every day. |

| Re: Excema I have eczema, always have. Not as bad now though. Was terrible when I was a kid. Found it was brought on by anything with alot of vitamins (weird, eh?!), such as fruit juice, too much dairy stuff plus by any product high in perfumes, additives etc that were going to come in contact with my skin.
My cure, less dairy and fruit products, cheapest (non-bio) soap powder, NO EXPENSIVE SKIN CREAMS, shower gels/shampoos with Teatree in them

I've always got diprobase on the go, and aqueous cream as well - it's great stuff, especially if you've taken reactions to creams before. Other than that, I've had pretty much every steroid cream available and tend to find they only work for a few weeks at a time then I need to get a new one.
Get balneum from your Doctor for the bath, and oilatum as well. | |

| Re: Excema If you're needing a wee treat then I recommend the butter ball bathbomb from lush. It contains essential oils that I found are beneficial to one's skin rather than harmless

| Re: Excema Scientifically the best thing to do would be to lie in a bath of Pure H20, the water would then get in to the skin through osmosis, and make your whole body look like a wrinkly prune. But at least it would be hydrated... |
