| I know the cause, symptoms and solution, but whats the problem? I'm pretty sure that its not a good thing if I can see my heart physically beating through my chest, sometimes as much as an inch through it. I know its caused by my consuming too much fatty food, and solved by eating less. But what is the problem? Is it perhaps high blood pressure, or high cholesterol? My heart rate is generally about 100 beats per minute btw. Havent seen a doctor yet because its not affecting me in any way, but I'm just curious here.

| Re: I know the cause, symptoms and solution, but whats the problem? Im generally skinny, and even my heart noticeably beats only around a millimeter through my chest after tough exercise. And bearly noticable when sitting still. And my idle heart rate is an average of 85 to 90 bpm.

| maybe the rain, is really to blame hhaahhh, I now have visions of your actual heart bursting it's way through ribs & flesh at 100bpm...
If so, I reckon even I would get professional medical advice on that one. Quote:

| Re: I know the cause, symptoms and solution, but whats the problem? My heart beat used to be around 120 bpm, which is pretty damn high - Do you drink a lot of caffiene? That was what was affecting me, plus generally being a big ball of stress and smoking lots.
You're saying you haven't seen a doctor because its not affecting you in anyway - its putting extra strain on your heart and blood pressure which can lead to strokes and heart attacks and a whole plethora of problems....
Its nothing that can't be sorted out easily - I just cut back on the diet coke and drank lots of water and stopped eating as much shit - but I think in extreme cases your doc could sort you out with beta blockers or something.
There used to be times where I could see my heart beating but Im pretty sure it wasn't coming out an inch, haha... |

| Re: I know the cause, symptoms and solution, but whats the problem? first off...go see a doctor...
it might be stress or hypertension which at your age can probably be cut back with change in diet..like trip said.
i generally have really low blood pressure, but sometimes when i smoked a lot id feel like i was aware of my heart beating..apparently something to do with blood pressure rising suddenly.

Alot which have already been mentioned.
Go see your Doctor, you might be needing medication or even just a change in lifestyle. |

| Re: I know the cause, symptoms and solution, but whats the problem? Cheers for the responses guys. Caffeine intake needs to be cut down and less fat consumed, I knew that much already. Will make more of an effort to do so and see what happens

Havent seen a doctor yet because its not affecting me in any way, but I'm just curious here. | im not meaning to scare you, but a heart rate of 100bpm is bad for someone as young as 19.
I had exactly the same symptons last year, because I had too many kebabs (too lazy to go to the supermarket), too much beer and I was really stressed out with uni and that.
Before I moved out my heart rate was fine, about 85 beats a minute and my blood pressure was round about the 120's.
I cut down on the kebabs and moved to healthier food, im feeling a lot better and I feel like my old self again, but every now and again I still get stressed easily.
Do you have a blood pressure monitor at home?, we have one because my father has HBP. You should also lay off playing chess aswell |

| Re: I know the cause, symptoms and solution, but whats the problem? Playing chess can actually be pretty stressful! Depends on the circumstances. I'm sure the rage I'm feeling against a certain Chess Corner opponent isnt helping me - I took a 50 day holiday due to problems getting my internet set up at uni, and ended up waiting 40+ days between moves in the game, which is a 14 day time limit (thats 14 days allowed between moves). I use most of these anyway. He started getting pissed off (how dare I use my allowed time?) and told me to resign, then started shouting at me for ruining the game. I am now crushing him utterly, and have queen knight and 4 pawns (2 passed) to his, er, queen (useless as my king is on the 7th rank and protected by 3 pawns and my knight, leaving me with 2 pawns to play with to finish the bastard) and 1 pawn (doomed). He has now deigned to offer me a draw...not impressed. Most basic rule of chess etiquette? Dont insult your opponent. He should have resigned long ago, because his position was long ago rendered hopeless after he cocked up an attempt to win the exchange and lost 2 pieces, the initiative, and his position all within 8 moves. I can just about withstand his playing on though. His offering a draw though? I am genuinely insulted. Not on.
*smiles sweetly*
Sorry, had to get that off my chest I've been venting about it to one of my friends on the site, who supports me completely. As the admin's favourite mod I'm half tempted to do something about the guy, but not sure I really can.
So yes, chess can be stressful! Cutting down on the caffeine and fat is where I need to be at, and I'll try.
