| who ate all the mince pies... Anyone else starting a diet seeing as the excuses of "oh, its Christmas/New Year/someone gave me all this chocolate and its a sin not to eat it and so on so forth?
I reckon its time I got myself together, Ive got a good bit to lose and theres no time like the present!
In other words, I could do with some support, seeing as Im not known for my astounding willpower.
I tried Atkins but, besides anything else, its not for someone on a student budget! So instead Im gonna ignore fad diets and just stick to plain ol' healthy eating and exercise, in the form of walking to uni every day (maybe back as well when it starts to get warmer.)
So, if you are, what you gonna do about? Also, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Any nasty little digs, on the other hand, will not.

| Re: who ate all the mince pies... My excuse is that exams are stressful enough and to deny myself whatever I want to eat is just going to exacerbate the situation.
But aye, eat less crap and do more exercise. I'm planning on going for a sauna and swim tonight.

Basically encourages you to eat "green" food, like brown rice, brown bread, porage etc - stuff that's really filling, takes ages to burn but isn't calorific, so you're getting a feeling of being full, your sugar levels are more steady so you're less likely to "crave-eat" and therefore you'll consume less calories, which will therefore mean you lose weight.
They do instruct you from the off, exercise is a really important part of the diet, but walking and swimming is as good an exercise as any other, especially if you haven't been active for a while. | |

| Re: who ate all the mince pies... Ive got a book on it, or at least my mum will seeing as shes type 2. I reckon its a good idea, and it doesnt matter if you dont keep following it once youve lost your weight, so long as you eat sensibly, does it?
*edit*
Thanks to whoever moved my thread, I wasnt too sure where to put it!

| Re: who ate all the mince pies... I've started a diet today. Basically I'm gonna eat as healthily as possible, eat less, drink lots of water and exercise. I've done it before its just a case of sticking to it.
The only thing I'm doing differently is giving myself a goal to lose a realistic amount of weight in 8 weeks. So basically by the 1st of March I should have lost a certain amount of weight then after that I can set a new goal or maintain the weight that I've got to. It just seems easier for me to set a timescale rather than going "oh i've got to lose a bajillion stone in a year". |

| Re: who ate all the mince pies... Frozen grapes kick ass, frozen banana too!
Seems sensible. With me though, Ive got an awful lot to lose, Id reckon about 4 or 5 stone if Im being honest with myself, and Im fed up of it.

| Re: who ate all the mince pies... I've got about the same amount to lose too but it's easier to say you are wanting to lose a stone or two, its less daunting than 5 all at once. |
