| Re: Jogging So what's the pain in my shin? I've never fractured it so I know it's not an old injury playing up...

| Re: Jogging When you haven't exercised for a while and your trainers aren't doing the job they should be, i.e. absorbing the shock of running on firm ground then your shins will get sore as they are taking a lot of impact from the road.
Get better trainers and you'll be fine. |

| Re: Jogging Nah, I know how to be light on my feet. And it's just my left shin, the right is absolutely fine. Maybe I'm landing heavier on that foot.

I don't think it'll be shin splints - that's a bit much for one days running. |

| Re: Jogging I went for a 2 mile run this morning - the first time i'd been out since about november too. Did better than I thought after such a long period, but when I got back to the flat and started my cool down I had a definite rattle in my chest and a burning sensation too. I've been coughing a lot since then but think it may be the start of a chest infection as it's not really that cold out today!
Did you do proper warm up stretches before going out? I sometimes get shin splints even after one run if i don't stretch properly.
Anyways, looking forward to getting out for some more runs now the weather seems to have cheered up a little.................................i really hope i haven't spoken too soon! |

| Re: Jogging Me too, from the Jog scotland coaches!! I get most problems with my ankles - even after warm-up during my first couple of steps they seize up and then they are fine.
Aparently, over-pronation can cause pain in the shin area too........ |

| Re: Jogging Shouldn't take too long to build up your stamina as long as you are reasonably fit to start off with.
I generally do a 2/2.5 mile run in the morning - but I get to use a free gym most lunchtimes. |
