| Re: Jogging The shin pain thing definitely sounds like shin splints, or at least the starting of. After a run, ICE - Ice, Compression, Elevation, I think. If it persists (which it doesn't seem to be), cut right back on the distance, and get insoles for your shoes.
It's caused by the sheath around the shin muscle not expanding at the same rate as the muscle itself does, I believe (from when i was suffering from it!). It's caused by ramping up your distance and/or speed too quickly - common cause is when you've run a lot before and go straight back in at that distance after some time off...
I got it when I was running 5ks 3/4 times a week training for a race. I'd jumped straight up from 1.5m to 3m and my legs just couldn't take it.
Where do you jog? |
