Oww

I slammed my arm against some railings the other day. It's been killing me ever since, to be point that I can't move my arm without wincing. A trip to the doctors may be order, but is there anything I can do right now to help? Except ibuprofen or other non-prescription painkillers.

Re: Oww

Is it nerve pain or muscle pain you're getting when you move it?

Either way, my first stop would be either a hot bath or a hot shower.

Re: Oww

Elbow, with a big fuck off bruise on my forearm. I've had a few showers since it happened, and tried the hot and cold compresses, and ibuprofen.

Re: Oww

Where do you stay? I'd take a walk to GEMS or A&E if it's that bad - I broke my elbow last year but apparently it's really common to do it and brush it off as hitting your funny bone or just having a bad bang.

Re: Oww

Nah, I know it's not broken - I can prod all the bones quite hard without any pain from them, and lean on it no problem. It's just bending that hurts.

Re: Oww

For almost any injury the best thing to do is RICE.

Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, along with some anti-inflammatories. It's a standard physio saying.

It reduces swelling and aids recovery. If problems persist then you have to see a Doctor.

Re: Oww

Emergency appointment this morning at the doctors. She told me, as I understood it, the muscles had been crushed and bruised and would take a couple of weeks to heal. In the meantime, I should stick with ibuprofen, compresses, and tubagrip. Really didn't help when I whacked my elbow off the wall in the shower this morning
