| Giving up smoking (yes, another one) Okay, day one is today. I have my patch slapped onto my arm. The ban annoyed me at first but the closer it got the more I got to thinking that instead of being angry about something I can do nothing about, i should embrace it as a big incentive to give up smoking. So I am.
I know theres been a few giving up smoking threads but I kinda wanted to use this one to kind of chart how well (or not) I do. I thought the kind of 'reporting in' mentality might help motivate me.
As I said I am using the patches for the time being, I have used these before obviously unseccessfully however I think I have a bit more determination now. I do find they help control the cravings, the only problem i have is when I run out again the cravings come back - does anyone have any hints on how to deal with this.
I am also considering one of those smoking cessation clinics - has anyone had any experience of using one of these? How helpful are they? |

| Re: Giving up smoking (yes, another one) Eileen you should get yourself up the duff that'll give you the motivation to stop and then just stay stopped after your pregnancy. Surely a kid will be cheaper than a smoking habit too! |

You also may suffer from constipation, so I'd get some laxatives if I was you. Alternatively, you can get zyban from your G.P. and it might help you without the side effects of the patches. The 'no smoking' ban may help....you'll not be tempted on you first expedition out socially as a 'non-smoker'. Good luck!!!! Apart from that, sorry can't help as I've never smoked.
