| Glasgow doctors not requiring registration? I've noticed a potential...health problem with myself. Not sure how serious it is, and it doesnt seem to be causing any serious problems, but a little worried nonetheless. Problem is my doctor is in Dumfries and I wont be there for a while, so I'd rather sort it out in Glasgow. As I'm not registered with a Glasgow doctor, however, I'm uncertain of what I can do. I'd rather not wait till I go back home, and I've got too much of a reputation for hypochondria to want to go to the emergency department of a hospital in case I'm seen to be taking up too much of their valuable time (which could be spent dealing with real problems) in the event that the problem is minor. However, I have no idea whether or not the problem is indeed minor, or something like cancer. I'm reluctant to say what the problem is publically on a site where I am relatively well known, at least to some people.
So are there any doctors who would take me without being registered at all? Just out of interest? All help much appreciated.

Usually they'll tell you to A&E, though. |

| Re: Glasgow doctors not requiring registration? I'll call as soon as I can summon up the strength...really worried this could be cancer, and given that I've spent the last year and a half in denial about this that could be fucking FATAL! Pretty much my only saving throw at the moment is the notion that if it has been there it should have done something more than it has to me by now...not that that is much comfort in all honesty...

No point putting things off (Pot kettle, black eh?) any longer. The people on the other end of the p[hone are nice, helpful folk that are used to dealing with it by now.

| Re: Glasgow doctors not requiring registration? I need to compose myself before calling. This may sound like innane fatigue driven rambling and indeed I may end up regretting posting it tomorrow after I've had a sleep anyway, but...
Ive been luckier than I deserve far too many times in life. Ive spent much of the last certainly 4/5 years wondering why that is, why it seems like god is trying to bail me out of situations where i fuck up, especially academic ones. ive lost count of the number of times thats happened. ive settled on a belief that i exist for a purpose - there is something i am meant to do, something i need to get far enough forward in life to do. Now im getting to the stage where i feel this may have something to do with it.
Either that or the time has come where the luck has finally run out. Hell I've had the opportunity to stop this, that's for Goddamn certain. I would honestly give up anything in the world for this not to be what I fear it could be. But then I think I may have used up all my second chances, all my extra lives. FUCK!

| Re: Glasgow doctors not requiring registration? Dude. If it makes you feel any better, I utterly convinced myself that I had pretty much every serious illness under the sun last year.
I ended up getting reffered to hospital for tests and I was at the stage of loosing hair I was so worried, It turned out that every symptom I had was acctually related to stress, so while you should definately go get checked by a doctor please don't self diagnose and get too stressed. Its nearly 3 in the morning, If you can get some sleep and call NHS direct in the morning, but self diagnosis is an easy way to give your self an ulcer.

| Re: Glasgow doctors not requiring registration? Try and get a good sleep tonight bud then in the morning think about picking up the phone. Think about it, if you do and get it checked out immediately, this time tomorrow you could feel on top of the world because your mind will be at ease. If not, you did the best thing because health problems don't always go away on their own.
Best of luck. |

| Re: Glasgow doctors not requiring registration? call NHS 24 in the morning. Hospitals and health centres and various other places have drop in centre type thing and out of hours GP places where you can go without being registered.
Honestly though. There's damn all point in worrying incase it's nothing. You do yourself no favours. I learned that the hard way lately. Worry if something's up. |
