hm...... also does it suffer from the same thing pill contraceptivesdo - whereby if you're on antibiotics you have to use condoms for the time you're on them and a week afterwards? | It stays on remarkably well, that was the other thing in fact, my change day was friday and I dreaded fridays for having to rip the patch off haha the black square wasn't very attractive either and was really hard to scrub off. If it came off, there's a time period of 24 hours to replace it. I've not had antibiotics since I was a kid so I dunno about that either, threw away my leaflets and stuff but if you google it and look for the fpa site it should tell you |

No big deal or anything though
It's got me a tad paranoid though because although the pill only puts you at a very very uber minute extra risk of getting cervical and I think breast cancer I'm not really in a hurry to have to get laser treatment done again. So yes, paranoid I know, but I've been on Microgynon 30 for the last 7 years constant and I'd like a change or at least a break from it.
Condoms - great, but I've been going out with someone for nearly 6 months so I'm not exactly shagging around
| I was advised when I went on the pill and had my first smear that it was preferable to use condoms as well as the pill, as your cervix is sensitive to semen, particularly in younger women. |

| Re: alternatives to the Pill? I'm glad someone brought this up - I've been interested in getting the implant. I too was on microgynon for a few years and at first I bled for 4 weeks and ended up on iron tablets. How painful is it to get done?

| Re: alternatives to the Pill? not that painful, they give you a wee jag of anesthetic and then make a cut with a scalpel then "inject" the implant in, stick a plaster and bandage on. Sore arm for a day but that's it.
I'm waiting to hear from Zenith what getting it removed will be like. |

I heard it's not bad at all. My friend who's asian had the implant because her family would have went mad at her having sex and using contraception because they're uber strict. She was all worried beforehand, but I saw her the next day on the bus and there was only a tiny wee cut that just looked like a papercut.
Obviously that's 3rd hand information and you're prob. best asking someone who's had it removed! |

That's what I thought! It's really not scary at all. Even if you do need laser treatment it's not a huge deal or anything either or even painful.
Would you rather end up with cancer years down the line?! |

Would you rather end up with cancer years down the line?! | What she said. I put off going for my first for months & when it showed up the abnormal cells, I was so glad I went. In the unlikely event that you do need any treatment, as Fallen nemesis said, it's better getting it done now when it's a relatively minor procedure rather than waiting. |
