| Re: alternatives to the Pill? i would like the implant but doc unhappy to put me on it as I have PCOS
What about changing the brand of pill? Micogynon (i was on that for a while and I SWEAR it made my depression worse, and I was quite angsty on it) has a high level of androgonens(sp) and can raise you testostrone level making you more horny (me - good) and prone to mood swings (me bad)
I amnowon Dianette for the PCOS andbefore the dianette on Celeste. I never had any problems with either of those two pills to be honest.
Good luck (although Im tyoing this and you've probably already got it sorted by now ) |

Maybe Im just a dirty but I honestly dont bother with smears, by that I mean Im in there with the knickers down and ankles together knees apart routine before the doctors even finished with "If you'd just like to pop behind the screen...."
Im part of a HPV study (i dont have them im vaccinated etc etc) and at one point I was getting a smear every 3 months, and honestly I found themno bother, my biggest worry was socks on or off? I mean socks on you look like you are frigid or socks off, are you gagging for it?
I asked a nurse that once and she looked at me wierd. But that was the same day I turned up shaved and asmiley face drawn on it. When she asked why I told her, just something different you you to look at innit?
Anyway I ramble. Get loads of KY, and relax, if you tense its more likely to be uncomfortable. I always take a change of knicks and a pantyliner cause that KY gets everywhere,so usually have a quick change in the loos before I go home. |

before the pill, 14st 7, 38c bra and a size 20 in trousers, so basically all belly and wee boobs
during pill, went down to 12st 6, dropped to a size 14, kicking a 12, and a 34GG in a bra.
The pill does help manage the hormone balance. |

| Re: alternatives to the Pill? I was told I had PCOS when I was 16. The doctor put me on Celeste and I was on it from the age of 16 until 22 or 23. I had no problems with it, in fact it regulated my periods and nearly obliterated my period pain. Still, I'm not keen on going back on the pill now I've been off it for nearly 4 years.

| Re: alternatives to the Pill? I've used the pill but I don't trust it completely and I can be forgetful when it comes to taking pills. It also gave me headaches and made me feel sick a lot of the time.
I had the jag for 3 months and seemed to be ok with that but at the time it was hard to get time away from work to go get the jag and I'd keep putting it off so that aint a good thing.
I had a coil fitted but it wasn't fitted properly, a few days later I felt something jagging down there and it turned out to be the coil. They did offer to fit one again and told me that this was a rare occurance but I didn't want to take chances.
I still use condoms with a new partner even if I'm on some kind of protection but I can't say I trust them entirely on their own.
I have had the implant for 3 years now and it is due to come out in a few weeks.
Getting it inserted was fine, just a tiny incision and the implant injected in. I went to work after and only had minor pain when I pressed down on it. Since then I never notice it unless I feel for it.
My periods have been almost non existent, until about January there and in the 3 years I think I had about 3 periods at most and they were pretty much over within a day. I only had the periods when I was really stressed too. I have had no side effects that I am aware of.
Because its due to come out, in January I got a period that didn't want to end, it lasted about 3 weeks, went away for a few days then came back for a month (it was also the grossest period I've had in my life but I wont go into that cos I don't wanna make folk sick). I went to the doc and he said it was fairly normal and it was an indicator that it was due to come out soon. I've since spoken to a friend who got hers around the same time as me and she had the same happen to her.
Other than that I would say the implant is one of the best choices I could make. It doesn't interfere with any other medication, for the best part of 3 years I have been period free and any I have had have been light. I haven't had to remember taking any pills or making time for appointments to go get a jag, it suits me.
I'm due to get it out soon so I don't know what that will be like but I do know that I will be getting another one put back in its place. |

I can't really remember, it was ages ago I was on the pill but if that was the case you could just work it out from how many pills you had left.
In my case I was on the jag and they worked it so that when the jag was due to get done again I got the implant then. I know when I got the jag I had just had a period but they gave it to me anyway and told me to wait a week before having sex without a condom, might be the same with the implant. |
