Coruscate, do you not just stand up? It takes the pain away for me, dunno if thats the wrong thing to do though

So, any ideas why? Im overweight, but Im fairly fit, and my diet is normally pretty good. (lots of fresh fruit and veg etc)
Thanks | Honey, you're gettting cramps because your potassium levels are low (due to your low carb regime). Go to your G.P and he/she will prescribe you supplements (you have to have the correct dosage as too much can be dangerous for your heart). It's quite well known that low potassium is common in low carb diets (especially if you drink any alcohol - dehydration) which manifests as leg cramps. Magnesium supplements (you can get these over the counter) are also a good idea. Also, try eat more broc/caul and asparagus....and drink less alcohol!

| Re: leg cramp? Have you increased your physical activity recently? I got similar symptoms when I went away to work at my first summer job. I was overweight at the time (not that I'm not now!) & not used to hard work. For the first couple of weeks I'd get really severe cramp in both legs that woke me up screaming in the middle of the night.
Don't have much to offer in the way of advice - I just worked through the summer, lost a bit of weight in the process and actually ended up with big muscly calves & thighs at the end of it!

I knew there was a reason I hated Atkins!
I only thought of it cos a couple of weeks ago I went into the steam room at the gym and there was a guy in the corner...eating a banana. Twas surreal, I tells ya! |
