| help! me finger has gone MAAAD
the index finger on my right hand has suddenly swollen up in lumps, got really hot and stingy. it feels like i have loads of paper cuts that have swollen up.
this has happened in the last 5 mins. only thing ive touched is my laptop.
it hurts. help? |

id rather not tho. i hate NHS 24, they've proved to be totally useless. im just looking for a quick soother really, im going to the nurse for my depo jag tomorrow anyway so if it still bad ill bug her. | |

id say call anyways - they dont mind and theyll probably be able to give u a better idea as to whether its anything to really worry about - if its a reaction u dont want it to spread or any kind of thrombosis u dont want it to get worse and affect other things | |

Not calling them if you're worried about something medical is daft 
We've all had bad experiences with 'em - But is that any reason not to call them again?
Just don't take any shit.
In a situation as probably-nothing-to-worry-about as this, they're unlikely to fuck you around much anyway.
It's only when it's IMPORTANT that they really mess with you... | |

You got any antihistamines in the flat? If you want you could take them just incase it is an allergic reaction, just to help soothe it. But DEFINATELY go to the doctors, either tonight or tomorrow morning if you *really* don't trust NHS 24.
It sounds either like an allergic reaction (have you got any dermatitis-y things (eg. excema?) - have you had latex or an adhesive you are not used to on your hand today?)?) or an infection (do you have any cuts on your hand/finger? Are they sore in particular?). If it is an infection I would STRONGLY recommend getting treatment right away, as cellulitis can be VERY serious. | |
