The Touareg’s a decent motor, don’t get me wrong … I just can’t figure out what the hell it’s for. It’s basically a bargain version of the Porsche Cayenne. Shares the majority of its components. I don’t understand the Cayenne either, though. It’s an engineering marvel, but only seems to exist to fleece the wallets of people who think a Land Rover just isn’t quite expensive enough.
In fairness, it’s probably just me. Porsche have sold a metric fuckload of Cayennes, despite hitting them with the ugly stick a few times.

| Re: Find me a new car AltNation The Tourag is cooler than the Cayenne.
Auch, different strokes innit.
I think they look cool, they're comfy, they just really appeal to me.
Great big cars, like you're own Tonka toy.
I also like the Alfa MiTo btw.

(Golf is the better car though, IMO)

| Re: Find me a new car AltNation Again, with you on that one. Golfs are ace little cars. The R32 is stunning … but wouldn’t help with expenditure at all.

| Re: Find me a new car AltNation How does that work? The whole point of the R32 is the huge, petrol guzzling, engine.

The reverse is much cooler. I like sleepers.

Besides, yer average Jo wouldn't be able to tell a Golf R32 if it sat on their face.
..Probably makes it worse actually.

| Re: Find me a new car AltNation Lots of RX-8s, Scoobys and fast Minis in Greg’s price range, according to Pistonheads. Search results here. That fake R32 you were on about is at the bottom of the list too.
Thing is, if I had that budget to spend on a car I’d be looking at eighties supercars or nineties roadsters. Not sensible but fast-ish modern motors.

as to luxury SUVs... the only one i've actually driven is an escalade, and it was HILLARIOUS flooring that thing - it did 0-60 in 6.2 seconds which is an absolute riot given how big it is - not in any way sporty but it put a grin on yer face just at the absurdity of something so big being so fast. but that's not really a reason to buy a vehicle i suppose.

If its a bling thing then fair enough though. Quote:

..Probably makes it worse actually. | The smoke belching out the back and the fact its barely moving might give it away though

| Re: Find me a new car AltNation Back on topic a bit... I've not really been paying attention to cars that young and cheap.
You could get your pick of fairly new fairly sporty Astras for that, or a Saab 9-3 Turbo; which may not be the most sporty car in the world, but its by no means sluggish
Other options from fannying about on autotrader for the sort of thing I'd get near those criteria are:
2005 Impreza WRX (saloon),
2005 Celica VVTI,
2006 Alfa 159 2.4JTDM (slightly higher miles though),
2004 BMW 530/525,
2005 BMW 330/325.
