My mind absolutely boggles at morons who shell out a quid or two for MP3s, $10,000 for a video game character actually makes me glad I was already sitting down when I read about it.

Yes, this argument will have a clear and concise victor.

I admittedly know fuck all about WoW, but I know it has been around for AGES. To me, this means that the game you just bought a $10,000 character for is probably going to be replaced or lose popularity and gradually die off soon, and you'll be lucky to get a tenner for it by the time you come to your senses. A video game character is not a good investment for such a large sum of money.
And it's not as if I don't LOVE video games, I certainly do, but come on to fuck let's talk sense here. THOUSANDS OF POUNDS for NOTHING. He doesn't even get the satisfaction of building the character up himself, just forking-out loads of cash for a lazy way to be good at it. Defeats the purpose of video games, does it not?

| Re: WoW Account Sold for $10,000± I love that the guy cares enough to pay that kind of money but clearly not enough to put the time in to build his character up to that exalted level. Clearly all that gear will be wasted on a total shiter of a player.

I'd probably have paid £5,000 for a Mew when Pokémon first came out, to be honest.

| Re: WoW Account Sold for $10,000± I'm gonna go learn how to play WOW and then take out a massive bank loan to buy a character, just to infuriate Lev.
Actually, that'd be worth it just to have an amazing conversation with a bank manager :o

Defeats the purpose of video games, does it not? | I pretty much agree with this. I don't grudge my £9 a month sub fee - I feel I get a lot of enjoyment out of the game for that - but £10,000 is just ridiculous. Especially as Blizzard are rumored to have banned the account for breaching the terms and conditions of the contract.
Seems to me that the guy has more money then sense, but at the end of the day it is his money, we get a laugh out of it and the world moves on. |
