WowInsider estimated that it was worth 2c per played hour, god knows where they got the played figure from - it was probably just an estimate.

But as Sumbilnation pointed out, Illiden is pretty much 6 months worth of raiding. I have friends in a raid guild that split from my own one, and they're raiding Black Temple five nights a week just now, and the progression has taken them four or five months.

Sorry. I meant it takes a hell of a long time to get to the stage of getting a character with that much gear, not to mention the help of at least twenty-four other players.
You also pretty much have to complete four or five other raids before you start on the final one to get gear that's good enough to take down the hardest bosses in the game.

Maybe he's just a nerd who spent his last hard-earned dollar on the shittest purchase in human history.

To you it's the shitest purchase in human history to him maybe it's years of fun and enjoyment. I've seen people piss five grand up against a wall in 6 months, spend thousands on tickets for festivals and concerts all of which will probably have lasted alot less time than he'll have playing this character.

Now I come to think about it though, what the hell is he going to do he's already got the best stuff in the game . Still the point is everyone get's enjoyment out of different things whats so different about this? I'm not really defending him but at the end of the day it's his money and he can do what the heck he likes with it.

5 grand would have bought him a lot of hookers and coke - the geeky bastard could've had a great time and lost his virginity at the same time.

This is very very true but he wouldn't have a double legendary wanger!

True, if he had 5 grand worth of coke he'd have the invisible wanger.

I reckon he'd be dead before his wanger became invisible and I bet he wouldn't get rezzed!
