| WoW Account Sold for $10,000± Wow (if this is actually true). Quote:
A Rogue character in World of Warcraft with arguably the best gear in the game right now has been sold for 7,000 Euro (approximately US $9,700). The avatar had both Legendary swords dropped by raid boss Illidan Stormrage, as well as 4/5 of a Tier 6 armor set.
The original owner, Zeuzo from clan Method on Sylvanas server, has been sighted building up a new Rogue.
...
The buyer, Shaks, currently resides on the Kazzak server but has not had any activity since September 3. Our sister site WoW Insider speculates that his account may have been banned, given the publicity of the auction and Blizzard's policy against selling accounts -- which would be truly sad for Shaks and truly hilarious for the rest of us (especially Zeuzo).

The guy's profile is here and the most insanely overpowered weapon in the game can be found here.

Cool. | You could say that spending a total of $10,000 on a hobby isn't actually that outlandish. Lots of people spend vastly more than that on cars, other vehicles and household luxuries they absolutely do not need.
There are myriad larger and more flagrant wastes of money happening every day. |

£5K is fuck all for a hobby. Start the argument where it starts. The money piled into football would be a good candidate. |

There seems to be an entirely arbitrary way of deciding, as a society, what people can and can't ethically waste their money on.
If you waste your money on extravagant cars or guitars or a TV you don't need, that's cool, but if you waste your money on extravagant clothes or shoes or a computer games character then you are personally taking a large, greasy shit into the gruel bowl of a starving Romanian orphan.
I think they're all wasting their money, personally. But, then again, I piss most of mine up against a wall. |

For a computer game character.
