Rumour has it that a pre WotLK patch (2gig) will be available from start October. Purely to lvl up Death Knights to 70 from 55.....
Anyone confirm or deny this? I can't access any game sites or game related sites from work  |

doubt it, to unlock a DK you need to get to 80 then do a "quest"
the content patch will however change all the game mechanics etc to the new WOTLK systems ( such as major paladin chances) some existing gear is being re-itemised. harbours etc are being added to take you to northrend once WOTLK hits.
the timeframe for it still isn't 100% though. | |

Nope, DK's are a part of the next expansion. So, Like Dreanai and Blood Elves in TBC you will need to have the expansion installed, and your account upgraded before you can even select them.

| It's definetly possible.
They are thinking of doing it to give a level playing field with the DK's and other characters. I think it was there to allow the DK's to get the "Server first to 80" Achievement. But i think since then those achievements have been removed from the beta due to complaints. | |
