When I heard Mouthwash's debut album, 1000 Dreams, for the first time, I was positively surprised. It is an eclectic mix of ska and punk which steers a course away from the current norm. Songs which stand out are the energetic 'Drop the Bomb', 'Fools Gold' which was featured on Hellcat's Give 'Em The Boot II, 'Competing for Frequency' and 'Live like Kings'. Some of the tracks are reminiscent of The Specials, others of Rancid. There is also plenty of experimentation, which is always a risk for a debut album. For example, 'Babylondon', which features a Drum & Bass MC. Thoroughly recommended...
