I've seen some poor reviews for this CD from IAK fans elsewhere, which has puzzled me a little, because I find this their most enjoyable album to date. It is certainly theor most accessible as it is ver rich melodically, the songs easy to like at a first hearing bit with enough depth for you to not tire of them with repeated playing.
Someone here has commented on the production as being poor...I don't agree. The album has a live sound - all of the songs could, if necessary, be easily played on unaccompanied acoustic guitar and still be very enjoyable but, for the band, Bramwell himself plays an electric guitar, stylisticallly often like an acostic one, and the band's arrangements are very simple, never displacing the guitar from centre stage. Particulalrly effective are the keyboards and synths, unobtrusive but tellingly effective.
So, rich in melody, less rhythmic and angry than their last "Gods and Monsters", "Play Moulah Rouge" is a return to the style of, say, the "I Am Kloot" album - but is more mature, more confident - it's better!
