A new John Hiatt CD is always worth a listen and this one certainly is. His song writing shows no sign of tailing off or degenerating into sentimental bathos which cannot be said of many "older" country/rock performers. An excellent CD, however when I tried to play it on my laptop...nothing, it just refused to play, I cannot transfer it to my mp3 player which is my preferred way to listen to music. I paid for the CD on the understanding that it is mine to do with as want, if record companies continue to go down this road it will only backfire on them, pushing people to download tracks from fileshare sites. Anybody who buys CDs with embedded software like this should be made aware of its limitations. I am now in my 60's and own several thousand albums, I have paid my dues and I think we deserve better. The album deserves 4 stars the deception 0 stars.
